What is your Dharma?

“It is better to strive in one’s own dharma than to succeed in the dharma of another. Nothing is ever lost in following one’s own dharma. But competition in another’s dharma breeds fear and insecurity.” Krishna in The Bhagavad Gita.

Dharma is your life purpose. It is living with what is integrious to you. Do you live in YOUR dharma? Or do you struggle to live with other people's agenda for yourself? When you live in your dharma or in your path, your latent talents and creativity emerge, and produce positive results all around you. You feel fulfilled, you are filled with joy. You spread joy. You know where you are going. You make conscious choices. You find qualities such as honesty, forgiveness and compassion naturally emerge while anger, judgment and greed drop away.

There is joy in living one's dharma. Take time to reflect, what is your true dharma or life purpose.. and then live it!

On Choices

We have freedom to choose. Our life is a result of all the choices we have made. We can choose to play it safe in mediocrity or to take the risk to live our dreams. We have to take chances, make right choices and take full responsibility. To take chances is to live a full life!

Recipes for Self-Love

Take full responsibility for your life.
Stop blaming others.
See yourself as the cause of what happens to you.

Do things you like to do.
Don't stay in a job you don't like.
Participate in life at the highest level you can.

Stop terrorizing yourself with your thoughts.
Be gentle and kind and patient with yourself.

Give yourself the simple pleasures of life abundantly.
Wear clothes you feel good in, get a massage etc.

Watch what you say. Avoid self put-downs.
Stop being critical of yourself and others.

Take care of your body.
Give it exercise and good food.

Be willing to create a life-style that generates and nourishes self-esteem.
Associate with others with high esteem.

Acknowledge yourself frequently.
Keep a diary of your successes and accomplishments.

Avoid comparing yourself with others.
Remember that it's who we are, not what we do, that's important

Give yourself permission to do nothing periodically.
Schedule time by yourself.

Frequently take deep breaths.
Discover the benefit and pleasure of breathing fully.

Eat first class frequently.
Don't look at the right side of the menu.

Stop trying to change others.
Focus your attention on being the way you want others to be.

Look into a mirror regularly
and say "I love you, I really love you".

Stop feeling guilty and saying "I'm sorry".
See mistakes as valuable lessons and avoid judging yourself.

Consciously generate positive thoughts and feelings of self-love
in place of old thoughts of inadequacy.

Be willing to laugh at yourself and at life.
Stop taking yourself so seriously.

Accept compliments from others without embarrassment.
Don't invalidate their positive thoughts and feelings about you.

Be kind to your mind.
Don't hate yourself for having negative thoughts.
Gently change your thoughts.

Keep your awareness and your thoughts focussed in present time
instead of living in the past or future.

Acknowledge others frequently.
Tell them what you like and appreciate in them.

Invest money in yourself.
Go to seminars, workshops and courses that develop your talents.

Make a list of 10 things
you love doing and do them frequently.

Treat yourself as you would treat someone you really loved.
Praise yourself.

what you do for a living.
I want to know
what you ache for
and if you dare to dream
of meeting your heart’s longing.

It doesn’t interest me
how old you are.
I want to know
if you will risk
looking like a fool
for love
for your dream
for the adventure of being alive.

It doesn’t interest me
what planets are
squaring your moon...
I want to know
if you have touched
the centre of your own sorrow
if you have been opened
by life’s betrayals
or have become shrivelled and closed
from fear of further pain.

I want to know
if you can sit with pain
mine or your own
without moving to hide it
or fade it
or fix it.

I want to know
if you can be with joy
mine or your own
if you can dance with wildness
and let the ecstasy fill you
to the tips of your fingers and toes
without cautioning us
to be careful
to be realistic
to remember the limitations
of being human.

It doesn’t interest me
if the story you are telling me
is true.
I want to know if you can
disappoint another
to be true to yourself.
If you can bear
the accusation of betrayal
and not betray your own soul.
If you can be faithless
and therefore trustworthy.

I want to know if you can see Beauty
even when it is not pretty
every day.
And if you can source your own life
from its presence.

if you can live with failure

and still stand at the edge of the lake
and shout to the silver of the full moon,
“Yes.”

to know where you live
or how much money you have.

We are karmically accountable for all that happens in our life. As a victim we look for people or circumstances to blame. In taking responsibility or accountability we take command of our lives.
To a certain extent we attract what we think.. and this includes collective victim consciousness.

Reflections on the flow

How does life flow so gracefully and move so effortlessly?
How does grass grow, even through cracks? How do rivers cut across the earth, finding their way through crevices?
How does the heart beat, blood flow through our veins, our body.. how do organs cooperate and work in perfect synch?
Just like nature, let go... ease your struggles and trust.
Intelligence, far more intelligent than this mind guides the universe. In Hinduism, it is said that we are not the "doers".
This is what Jesus meant when he said: “The Father, that dwelleth in me, He doeth the works.” Performing the right action, to the best of one's ability, and then surrendering to the source. This is not giving up, but the ultimate trust that source will deliver what is best for you.

Verse 29 from the TAO TE CHING:

"Some think they can control what goes on.
I don't think anyone can.
The flow is sacred, digests
all volition: observe it
perturb it, try to hold it
lose it.

So sometimes ahead and sometimes behind,
sometimes hot and sometimes cold,
sometimes strong and sometimes weak,
sometimes on top of it, sometimes under.

So don't strain, spend too much, be smug."

Take command of your life. Refuse to put yourself on an assembly line, refuse to give away your power. We all have an inner guidance - we just need to activate it.

Often we look outside of ourselves, muting our inner wisdom and intelligence that knows what to do. We look outside for a fix, for cures, when our inner healing system is already inbuilt. We have allowed ourselves for too long to surrender to the world "norms" of what is right or wrong. Sadly, we have given away our internal power, not trusting our inner wisdom. There is a saying: "If we don't go within, we go without."

Trust your intuition and inner wisdom. The old ways of living is changing. There is a gradual but certain shift taking place. Let us regain our independence and trust our inner spiritual power.

The Divine Unstruck Sound - The Syllable: OM ॐ

The Gospel according to St John: "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not anything that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in the darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not." Almost all religions refer to the "Word" as the beginning of creation. In physics, vibration is the element from which everything manifests. The entire universe is made of pulsating vibrating energy which is represented by Om.

The unstruck sound, Om or Aum represents the creative power of creation, the Logos, the divine Word. It is the primordial energy that forms and sustains the universe, the unmanifest made manifest. In Hinduism, Aum or Om ॐ is a sacred symbol and sound, uttered at the beginning and end of any prayer.

ॐ Aum Shanti: Om Peace. ॐ

Namaste: "The Divine within me recognizes and honors the Divine within you".

Namaste is an ancient Sanskrit understanding that says, "I respect the place in you that is of love, of truth and of Light. When you are in that place in you, and I am in that place in me then we are one."

What a lovely way to greet a person! Acknowledging the divine essence in another as the same divine essence in you. When one greets another in this manner there is instant awareness and mutual respect cultivated for the other. Imagine a world where everyone recognizes the same divine essence within all. There would be more peace and love in the planet.

The Microcosm within the Macrocosm

As Deepak Chopra states:
As is the atom, so is the universe.
As in the microcosm so is the macrocosm.
As above so below.
As is in the human body, so it is in the cosmic body.
As is in the human mind, so it is in the cosmic mind.

And Madame Bavatsky from The Secret Doctrine states:
As above so it is below, as in heaven so on earth;
and man - the microcosm and miniature copy of the macrocosm -
is the living witness to this Universal Law and to the mode of its action".

The outer world is a macrocosm of the inner world - the microcosm. Yet this is infinitely more complex than the physical universe and it vibrates at a higher rate.

Jesus said: "The kingdom of God is within you." The Bible says that we were created “in the image of God” (Genesis 1:27). We were created “like” God. Essentially, what this means is that man is a reflection of God. We are a miniature version of the universe. Within this human body lies the microcosm of the entire universe.

The microcosm (internal) is within the macrocosm (external). We are gods within God.
